One Small Boat and Another Place at the Table
These books were written by the same lady. She has been doing foster care for a long time and has been a part of many kids lives. I enjoyed both of her books so much. She is an amazing woman. She cares so much for all of the kids that enter her home no matter how long they stay or what their situation is. She treats them like the kids that they are and gives them the love that they so desperately need.
Somebody's Someone
This book has been a hard read for me but a good one at the same time. My husband and I went to see the play that is put on by the woman who wrote this book. It was a very good, very touching play. The book has been a bit hard to swallow. It is about this girl growing up in foster care and let's just say she did not have the best experience with almost every adult in her life. On the other hand it has opened my eyes to how many hurting children we have right here in our own country. It makes me want to do more to help these kids. The forgotten ones that just want to be somebody's someone.

Nurse Matilda
This is the book that the movie Nanny McPhee was made about. I am reading it to my kids and they love it, well I love it to. I really liked the movie so I bought this book. It is three stories in one and the first one is what the movie was based on. Then the second and third ones are the contiuation. My son loves to hear about all the bad things the kids do but then they learn a lesson and put things right. It is a good book to read aloud.
Do They Hear You When You Cry
I am in the middle of this one. It is about a woman from Togo, West Africa and her story of trying to come to America and seek asylum because of FGM or ( female genital mutilation). It is a hard story to read in some ways but she has such a strong spirit and it is a topic that I think women around the world need to know about.
