This one I have not started yet but I am really excited about it. I have liked some of her other books and the topic of this one sounds fun. I will try to update when I am done with it.
This book is very good. I love Barbara Kingsolver's novels. In this book her husband and her 19 year old daughter also write essays to accompany what she's written about her family's experience eating locally for a year. It was a both easy to read AND inspirational (in my humble opinion). If you're interested in the idea of eating locally another book to look up is the 100 Mile Diet written by a couple in Vancouver (who wrote this book after a similar, local eating experiment).
Yes, I am a random blog reader. I live in Victoria on Vancouver Island and enjoy biking to the local farmers market to enjoy what my area produces. I found your blog this weekend while I was sick and jumping from blog to blog to blog (from each blog's list of blogs they read). I'm pretty harmless though as I spend my days working as an occupational therapist with young kids with autism and wondering about my ability to have faith and believe.
One of my mom's cousins highly recommended this book to me. She thought it would be an especially good read for someone like me, a "food activist". (I'm a vegetarian.) I haven't read it yet, but I'd be interested to find out how you like it. -PT http://infinitepages.blogspot.com
I am a mother of three. Boy, 6 and girl, 3 and baby. I have been married for 7 years to a wonderful man. I love to read. It is almost an addiction. It is the one thing that I can do almost any time and anywhere. I love living in the city and being able to walk or ride my bike to many places. One of my favorite things to do it ride my bike with my daughter to the local farmers market and pick out wonderful, fresh fruits and vegetables. I love God and am doing my best to raise my kids to love the Lord and share His love. One of my favorite things is to sit and drink coffee with a friend while the kids play. Pure Joy!
